FAQS
Who is aerial fitness/yoga for?
Aerial fitness and yoga (both traditional and aerial) can be performed by men and women at all different levels of fitness. Even if you have never taken a yoga or group fitness class before, our classes here at Rise are beginner friendly and open to everyone. It is advised however, as with most other forms of exercise, that you consult with a physician prior to taking a class if you are unsure it is safe for you. Some contraindications for aerial classes include those who are pregnant, have vertigo, or uncontrolled high/low blood pressure, to name a few.
What should I wear to class?
Form fitting clothing is best. Baggy clothing (think sweatpants and loose fitting tees) can make it more difficult to move within the hammock or on your mat. No footwear required, classes are performed barefoot. If you prefer to wear socks, socks with grips on the bottom are recommended. Jewelry typically is not recommended in aerial classes as it can snag the fabric.
What should I bring to class?
Just yourself and some H2O! The studio will provide all other equipment needed for class including yoga mats, props, etc. However, if you prefer to bring your own mat please feel free to do so.
Is there an age limit/requirement?
We ask that all participating members be 14 years or older for regularly scheduled classes. (Those under the age of 18 will require a parent or guardian to sign an informed consent waiver on their behalf.) But not to worry, we offer kids aerial classes as well! (See schedule for dates and times.)
How much weight can the hammocks hold?
Aerial hammocks are professionally rigged to withstand 2,000 pounds of force. Industry standard requires participants of an aerial class weigh in at/or under 300 pounds.
